Wole Soyinka Centre/Albarka FM Holds One-Day Town Hall Meeting on Community Development in KwaraWole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism in collaboration with Albarka 89.9 FM, Ganmo, Kwara State on Wednesday 6th of March, organized a one-day sensitization program on community development in the state.
The participants, drawn from various communities and representatives of the people living with disabilities (PWDs) in the state were sensitized on the role of the community and government in community development.
The program funded by the MacArthur Foundation was held at the City-In-Hotel, G.R.A Ilorin.
Participants were sensitized on the importance of knowing their representatives and frequent engagement with them on community needs.
Speaking at the event a public analyst Comrade Lanre Osho, charged the participants with the need for the citizens to identify various community challenges that need to be addressed and also engage their representatives to facilitate developmental projects.
A participant, Mr Muhammed Suranudeen, from the Anuoluwapo community in Ogele Ward, Asa local government seized the avenue to appreciate Albarka 89.9 FM for giving their community voice said one of the aides to their representative acknowledged listening to the programme and assured them that their community needs would be attended to soonest.
Other participants also commended the sponsors of the programme and Albarka FM for being the voice of the voiceless in society.
