PresidentPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to close ranks and work together for national progress as the country marks its 65th Independence Anniversary.
The appeal was conveyed on Friday by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, after a special Juma’at prayer at the National Mosque in Abuja, one of the events lined up to mark the anniversary.
Speaking on the theme of this year’s celebration, “Nigeria at 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation,” Idris said the President’s message to citizens is one of hope, unity, and collective responsibility.
“Differences will always exist, but the President’s message is one of hope, unity, and togetherness. All Nigerians must imbibe these values so that, collectively, we can achieve the progress and prosperity that Mr President has promised since assuming office,” the Minister said.
He noted that in the two years of Tinubu’s leadership, the country has recorded “significant economic growth, improvements in security, notable progress in agriculture, and advances in other critical sectors.”
While acknowledging persisting challenges, Idris maintained that the nation is “on a firm march towards sustainable prosperity, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
The anniversary comes at a time Nigeria is grappling with economic reforms, security concerns, and calls for greater inclusivity in governance. Analysts say the government’s unity appeal reflects the need to rally citizens behind its policies, especially as hardship continues to test national resilience.
The Minister congratulated Nigerians on the occasion and urged them to embrace the President’s call for togetherness.
“Together, hand in hand, we can and will build the Nigeria of our dreams,” he declared.
