President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, on his re-election, describing the outcome as a “testament to his visionary leadership and the significant progress the state has made under his guidance.”
In a statement issued on Sunday by the State House, President Tinubu said Soludo’s victory in Saturday’s governorship election — which makes him the third governor in Anambra’s history to win a second term — underscores the people’s confidence in his administration.
“Professor Soludo’s re-election is a testament to his visionary leadership and the significant progress the state has made under his guidance,” the President said.
The President also praised the people of Anambra State, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and security agencies for the peaceful and credible conduct of the election. He commended the newly appointed INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, for what observers have described as “a credible poll,” urging the commission to sustain and improve on the standards recorded.
Tinubu noted that Governor Soludo, popularly known as “Mr. Solution,” had shown that “knowledge is power” by applying academic and technocratic principles to governance — promoting accountability, transparency, and prudent management of resources.
Recalling his visit to Anambra in May, where he inaugurated several projects executed by the Soludo administration, President Tinubu said the experience “remains indelible” in his mind.
“I commend Governor Soludo for bringing discipline, grace, brilliance, and a fresh perspective to governance in Anambra. Under him, Anambra is living up to its motto as the Light of the Nation,” he stated.
While urging Soludo to be magnanimous in victory and to extend a hand of fellowship to his political opponents, Tinubu assured the governor of his administration’s continued support and collaboration with the Anambra State Government.
He added that the victory of the opposition All Grand Progressives Alliance (APGA) in the election “demonstrates the vitality of Nigeria’s political system and the fact that victory for any progressive and hardworking leader can hardly be encumbered or denied.”
Professor Soludo’s re-election extends the dominance of APGA in Anambra politics, a party that has governed the state since 2006. Political observers say his administration’s focus on infrastructure, fiscal discipline, and social welfare helped solidify his support base across the state.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared Soludo winner after polling a wide margin over his closest rivals from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in what many observers described as a peaceful and transparent election.
President Tinubu’s congratulatory message, coming less than 24 hours after the official announcement, reflects what analysts see as a gesture of bipartisan respect and acknowledgment of credible democratic outcomes.
