Two men arraigned for murder of Maersk MD’s wife
Prosecutors have arraigned two men for the murder of the Hungarian wife of the Managing director of Maersk Nigeria Limited, Gildas Tohouo.-Tohouo.
Lagos State Attorney-General & Commissioner for Justice, Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN) led the prosecution of the defendants before the State High Court in the Igbosere area of Lagos Island.
The defendants, Olamilekan Oke and Akande Adeyinka were arraigned on an 8 count charge for conspiracy, murder, attempted murder, armed robbery and rape.
According to court papers,the offences were committed on Dec 8, 2019 at about 7.30pm when they broke into Flat 7a Luggard Avenue, Ikoyi where they killed 44year old Bernadette Tohouo-Tohouo by suffocating her to death with a small pillow.
The defendants also accused of attempting to kill her husband, Gildas by stabbing him severally on the neck, head and back with a knife.
They were allegd to have stolen money in local and foreign currencies, two iPhones and the couple’s wedding rings.
One of the defendants, Olamilekan Oke was also charged with the rape of Bernadette.
They pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them .
The Attorney-General immediately requested for a short adjournment saying he has already listed 14 witnesses to testify against the defendants ,
Lawyer to the defendants raised no objections to the application
Justice Nicol-Clay adjourned trial to the 30th of June and ordered the accused to be remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre where they have been since their arrest
