SULTAN SEEKS CAN SUPPORT TO STOP HATE SPEECHES ON PULPITS

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, yesterday called for a collaborative effort among religious leaders to stop hate speeches.
The eminent monarch and President-General of the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) drew a linkage between political partnership and hate speech, lamenting that it has desecrated the religious pulpit.
The Sultan, in his letter to Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) President Rev. Daniel Okoh, emphasised the need for Christian and Muslim clerics to team up to halt the menace.
Sultan, in his congratulatory message on Easter, signed by NSCIA Deputy Secretary-General, Prof. Salisu Shehu said: “As a people of faith united by our father, Abraham, the recent history of our dear nation and faith communities are being threatened by the machinations of politicians. These digressions can only be attributed to the handiwork of the devil, whose guile is ultimately weak indeed (Qur’an 4:47).”
