Police foil abduction of another 80 school children in Katsina

The police in Katsina have foiled the abduction of another set of 80 students from an Arabic school in the state at the Weekend.

The 80 students from Hizburrahim Islamiyya, Mahuta village, Dandume Local government of Katsina state were returning from Maulud Nabbiyi, an occasion to celebrate the birth of Prophet Mohammed, when they ran into the bandits who had earlier kidnapped four victims and rustled 12 cows.

The incident happened on Saturday night at Mahuta, B ward in the Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.

A statement by spokesman for the Katsina state police command, Gambo Isah said the bandits who had already kidnapped four persons and rustled twelve (12) cows from Danbaure village, Funtua LGA, were trying to escape into the forest.

Upon receiving distress call, the District Police Officer led Operations Puff Adder, Sharan Daji and Vigilante group succeeded in dislodging the bandits and rescued all the eighty four (84) kidnapped victims and recovered the twelve rustled cows.

Isah said search parties were still combing the area with a view to arrest the injured bandits and recover their dead bodies.
