The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, has called for prayers for men and officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

He said given the prevailing security challenges in the country, the police had become endangered species and needed prayers for protection and guidance.

The IGP spoke in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State while commissioning the administrative block for the 26 Squadron Police Mobile Force and a 1.7km internal road network at Mopol Barracks, Idoro Road, Uyo, the state capital, which was completed by the Niger Delta Development Commission.

He said, “What I’m seeing is a church and the other a mosque; policemen are becoming too religious these days, and that is good; any person who does not know how to pray will go to hellfire; these days, you know, we are endangered species; we need to pray and protect ourselves well.”
