Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Thursday visited Oke Ode in Ifelodun Local Government Area to reassure residents of government’s support and determination to protect lives and property amid ongoing security challenges in parts of the state.
The governor, who was accompanied by top government officials and security commanders, met with community leaders to brief them on renewed efforts by his administration, in collaboration with the Federal Government and security agencies, to restore calm and eliminate criminal threats.
AbdulRazaq is also expected to hold similar meetings later today with traditional and community leaders from Edu and Patigi Local Government Areas.
The visit comes in the wake of intensified joint security operations across the state, particularly in areas affected by banditry and kidnapping. Security forces have in recent weeks scaled up surveillance and deployments in Kwara’s border communities, which have witnessed sporadic attacks linked to criminal gangs operating from neighboring states and parts of the North Central region.
Governor AbdulRazaq reiterated his administration’s resolve that no part of Kwara would be left unsafe for criminals, stressing that the government is working closely with security operatives to boost patrols, intelligence gathering, and community engagement.
The state government had earlier convened security meetings with stakeholders, where it pledged increased logistical support for security agencies to tackle emerging threats, especially in rural communities.
