The Federal Government, in a bold move to curb the rampant drug abuse and its consequent social vices among Nigerian youths, has revealed plans to incorporate more National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in the battle against drug consumption.
The announcement was made by the Minister of State for Youth Development, Mr Ayodele Olawande, during a visit to the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.
In a meeting with the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, accompanied by Dr Oliver Stolpe, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Country Representative, Mr Olawande, emphasised the critical state of youth addiction.
“Efforts must be intensified to reduce drug abuse among youths because it is the foundation of the increasing rate of social vices,” he stated.
