Evans,the millionaire kidnapper pleads guilty

Millionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, alias Evans pleaded guilty to a two count charge of conspiracy to commit act of kidnapping and Kidnapping.

Onwuamadike was arraigned at a Lagos High court along with his co-accused, Uche Amadi, Ogechi Izechuwku, Okechukwu Nwachukwu, Chilaka Ifeanyi and one Victor Chukwumonso.

The charges relate to the kidnap of one Mr. Donatus Dunu in Ilupeju, Lagos.
Onwuamadike , Uche and Okechukwu pleaded guilty to both counts while Ogechi, Chilaka and Victor pleaded not guilty.

The Attorney General of Lagos state, Adeniji Kazeem who led the prosecution asked for a trial date and requested that all defendants to be remanded in prison custody

Ogungbeje had no objections to the Attorney General’s request for adjournment. But he complained to the court that he had no access to his client in detention Justice Hakeem Oshodi ordered that all the male defendants be remanded  at the Kirikiri Maximum Prison in Lagos and the only female defendant, Ogechi be kept at the female wing of the prison.

But in a dramatic twist after the proceedings, Owuamadike’s lawyer, Olukoya Ogungbeje accused the police of coercing his client to plead guilty by threatening to kill him if he pleaded not guilty.
